Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner are developing "War of the Worlds" for Paramount. The film is to be set in 2003.Michael Mann is developing "Miami Vice" as a feature for Universal.
"Independence Day 2" is being developed by it's original producers as a sequel.
Follow Ups:
I have to say, the thought of a Miami Vice feature intrigues me. Do you know who's starring in it?If it was anyone else besides Mann doing it, I would write off as fluff and not even bother with it.
But Mann is The Man. He really knows how to take advantage of Hollywood and those who crave its films.

War of the Worlds would technically be the only remake of the ones you mentioned, as neither of the other two have actually been released as feature films before that I know of (I do not count sequels as remakes). It is also the only one I would expect to perform worth a damn at the box office, assuming it is not a crapfest like The Time Machine was.Miami Vice? I never really watched the show, but maybe they can somehow make a go of this concept in a feature film. Independence Day 2? How in the hell can they have a sequel considering they basically did everything imaginable in the first one?

Ah..... the creative forces of the suits at work again. I hope my prediction never comes true. Budweiser Frogs the movie, Or even worse WAAZZUUUP the movie. yes the one untapped source of noncreative filmaking, the movie based on a popular commercial. It could happen....
