I had the same reaction. When I first picked it up, I was thinking that it'd just be a time-filler and my general dis-like of Drew Barrymore just about assured me that it would be a waste. I remember half way thru thinking the exact same thing you did - "Wow!" - and even Drew seemed to be, well, likable....heh heh:-)Really a must see flick. Thanks for reminding me of it, I'd like to see it again.
Follow Ups:
I've also never been much of a fan of Ms. Barrymore (at least not her acting ;-)If there was one weak spot in the movie it was her scene where she's fired. Gosh...it seemed painful for her to deliver that scene...like she had to strain.
I guess when you're Executive Producer, you can do anything you want.
