The "original" Toy was great, and of course the recent "A Chef in Love".BTW - how do you feel about Louis De Funès? Have you seen the Fantomas films?
Follow Ups:
Curious you ask..I had just a second look ,too, at " La Folie des Grandeurs " quite a few nice scene..but a bad film,dated..Louis de Funes, could be funny..for a little time..but his role repeat and repeat..always the same...I remember as, a kid, seeing him ,on the Promenade Des Anglais,in Nice,in front of the Negresco..alone with a " bad mood Face"..you never had wanted to ask him for an Autograph..( witch I never would do...)La Pianiste, just came in, have a look tomorrow and I am already .. curious...did you see it ?
PS: I have big problems with the novel of Chekov...( only read two )
I shall keep checking on La Pianiste. Regarding Chekhov - I would definitely recommend some short stories first. But I have no idea whether a foreigner can get the tru flavor of his writing, as it is incredibly tied to the Russian realities.
That is what I thought.
I start with short storys.the first one was " le Duel" I found it very cold, very intelectual, with a these an antithese and an synthese, very coldly writen revealing the first sign of the Stalinism ( remember the jewish character HE is the faschist )
I found the Russian soul ( Or what IThink it is) present, the being torn apart...but could not identify with them as I can with Flaubert,maupassant....I could connect with Tolstoi..
And I read " My Life " witch in my eyes is not a story with a logical flowing story... cold very cold..bitter more of an moralist with a big envy for justice and showing the limitation of the bourgoisie...
Too much of politic ..too less of an enjoyable story.
Till now.
I will pursuit.
