For years I have been saying this is the best war film in the history. I love it... I love it... I love it...A gem with very few equals. Incredibly powerful.
It sent me on the painful search of every film Brigitte Fossey ever made... only found a couple and they were nothing special. She retained that face... and that smile, but no great films. Shame, really, she is a gentle actress.
You are cutting too close now.
Follow Ups:
So, i always had the feeling that the beginning and the end has been " abrupt " Chopped ? Now I have seen the extremities...
The thing is R.Clement did not replace this scenes..I prefer the film with the missing link!
When this film came out it was a scandal,as too near to the war..
problem with the money..This film started as a short film..after Tati saw it he persuade Clement to make out of it a real motion picture..so one year late the film was completed...False thooth for Brigitte,as she has lost two..and the clothes had to be made longer..Brigitte give an interview, she is a beauty and such an intelligent and compassionate one...Victor buy this dvd!.
...but I am not into multi-zone DVD players... yet. Perhaps I should be.BTW, would they ship to US?
Yes ! you should ! even an VHS multi standard,as DVD as still a lot of titles NOT on this format.
Why not, Amazon fr.or de will send you any films you wishes...look at films from ARTE ( That is the culturale French/ German tv) they have wonderfule dvd´s )
BUY ONE !
This new French dvd has an alternative beginnin and ending & interview of R.Clement § B. Fossey and a lot more.
Hard to see how one could make the ending stronger. Thanks again for reminding me about this gem.
