You're just about the only person I've come across who didn't like this film; no offense, but AFAIC, Lord of the Rings is a masterpiece.AuPh
The whole story concept was always so overwelming to me.For some reason, I just couldnt let my psyche go and throw myself into the complicated thing. To me, it required too much work, to pay attention to all of the story detail.
A film experience based on could only short-change whatever work the author put into it. I would rather try reading the Classics Illustrated version of it...if there was one. Or Cliff Notes.
Remember the quote from Lord Acton...'Power corrupts ....etc.'Watch it again with this line in mind......this is really the whole of Tolkien's point.

LOTR was nothing special. Just another sword movie with all the worn out cliches and hooks. Monsters, midgets, sorcerers, magic sword (ring), good versus evil, etc.drobo
Lord of the Rings (the story) was the ORIGINAL swords and sorcery epic. And yes, many imitators have spung up.
LOTR is hardly the original. What about all the classical mythology and literature such as the Old Testament of the Bible, Beowulf, King Arthur legends, Iliad and Odyssey, 1001 Arabian Nights?drobo
Thought for a minute you were talking about AOTC.
I disagree.Cheers!
