Is anyone aware of who might have the best copies of Star Wars 4, 5 and 6 and Episode 2 (Attack of the Clones) on DVD or VCD? Some people have said that all the DVD versions of 4, 5 and 6 come from Japanese copies of laser disc onto DVD and others say that VCD's of all of these movies have been released in Malaysia. If anyone has copies of these and purchased them from eBay, could you please let me know who the sellers were so I can contact them. Also, is there a substantial difference between DVD and VCD picture and sound quality?
Follow Ups:
I've seen these things around, so look in retail outlets. As far as I know, the VCD's are MPEG audio-video and there is a considerable difference between this and DVD. So proceed at your own risk.
To me, it all comes down to whether it's official or not. The officially released VCD's I have...Pink Floyd "Live At Pompeii" and "Pulse", The Who, BeeGees, Bob Marley...are good quality but still MPEG audio-video. Good enough for your PC, but NOT for viewing, even on a DVD player.
The bootlegs I have..."Rush Hour", "Rush Hour2", "Operation Condor", Deep Purple's "New, Live, Rare"...are not worth what you have to pay for them.
It depends how bad you want it. As a pure collectible, it's a good investment, but as a viewing experience, it sucks, BIG TIME !
Just searh eBay for sellers and you can see for yourself...just be careful when you send them the money!
