This is an evil little black comedy that probably won't appeal to all, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Violent, but it was hard for me to take the violence seriously, so it didn't really seem *that* violent to me. The plot revolves around several people and groups of people involved in the London underworld who just can't quite get things to work out right for themselves. Oddly, it reminded me more of the old Alec Guiness film "The Ladykillers" than the Pulp Fiction-type films that it tends to be compared to.
yeah, this film was a lot of fun - that slow mo shot of stoned girl raking room with machine gun was great - if you like the style of this, you should check out the recent german film run, lola, run and a new one out called the limey both great in their editing, fast paced action and story lines.
Did you watch this on a VHS or laserdisc copy? I'm wondering 'cause the DVD version I bought has horrible color (faded beige?) compared to seeing it in the theater.A woman who saw this film at my place summed it up by saying that this film shows the bad things that can happen when men fail to communicate effectively. Still haven't been able to drag her to see "Fight Club".
I saw the VHS version. The color certainly isn't vivid, but I haven't seen it in the theater, so I can't compare. Plus, I have a touch of color blindness, so I'm not the best person to ask about that aspect.
