Definitely do plan to see it. As far as Tom Hanks and the exposure he receives, he said it best himself. When describing the Oscar experience, he said it was 'a white hot attention that nobody deserves'. This attention from the press hasn't waned, mainly due
to the 'People' magazine mentality of the nation's obsession with movie stars. In my mind, I can put it best by simply stating, I dislike movie stars and I love actors. Hanks is still an actor in my book.
Follow Ups:
Boston Globe. Pretty discouraging.
Try Rotten Tomatoes, you'll find a much wider range of opinions there! Go here (if link won't post): http://rottentomatoes.com/m/RoadtoPerdition-1114614/
Clarks review is right on. I worked on this one and have seen it at least 25 times. It is a real downer, but not a real high quality downer, despite the fine cast. Slow, Slow, Slow, depressing depressing, depressing
Steve
I don't think he's a bad actor, at all. But I can name several that I think are better, and Hollywood seems to think he is the pinnacle.
