He's a scene stealer in 'High Fidelity'. The performance at the club with Jack and the band is magic. Although someone must explain to me
WHY Lisa Bonet was in the film at all. All scenes with her in it were
a real downer for me.For my money, Jack Black's best performance is in 'Jesus' Son' with Billy Crudup, as the disorderly orderly and speed freak, Georgie.
He tries his best to steal the movie, but it holds it's own.
If you are a fan of his, don't miss this little gem. Beautiful, surreal, sad, and funny.......What more could you ask for?
Follow Ups:
"Bongwater", as "Devlin", who lives in the forest too !
Thanks for reminding me. Jesus Son was a great little movie - why Crudup isn't a huge star is baffling to me. JS was more of a "straight" acting role for Black, and he acquitted himself well. Thank God for independent movies. Why WAS Lisa Bonet in High Fidelity? I don't geddit. She's pretty of course...is that it?
I think Black was a surprise to most of us in HF - to be so memorable amidst that stellar cast was quite an achievement.
Jack Black did a great, relatively subdued performance as the friend of a guy who could generate lightning strikes from his body played by Giovanni Ribisi in an old "X-Files" episode.
