I have been waiting a long time for this one, as i'm sure others have! That one scene with Alec Baldwin as the motivational sales director is phenomenal!
Follow Ups:
The current gossip is that it's being re-cast currently, because their first choice of Ben Stiller "dropped out" on his own...for no apparent reason...he was to team with Danny Devito!Danny is still "in"...and they are looking...rather, hoping...for John Cussack, to pair with him.
Hmmmm Broadway....just like "Sweet Smell of Success"...Lithgow won Tony, only because he tried so hard in the role, not because of any reasons like aesthetic quality.
The industry is so without anything original, they have to scrape the barrel with rehash choices like these. If the public stayed away, in a boycott of these sorry choices, perhaps more aspiring and talented writers would be "discovered". But it won't happen, because of our disposable culture, that seems to, love being shoveled the same garbage, over and over again.
Where are the new David Mamet's and Neil Simon's....starving and working on their scripts, with the hope that, someday, all of this stuff will be over. Let's hope, for Us, they hang in there.
Meanwhile we salivate everytime a show like this is presented. The latest "hit" is "Hairspray"....I thunk we have reached the True Bottom of the Barrel...but wait...there's still the possibility of a musical version of those lost Ed Wood films, huh ?
why these companies aren't releasing these great titles to dvd--and making money.Common sense dictates that there has to be a reason--KP and I are on oddles of email me when it's released lists--which never come to pass--we give up.

Supposedly, Nov. 12 as a 2DVD set by Artisian Entertainment...but I don't see any pre-order status anywhere...so, your guess is as good as my information, at this point !
from dvdjournal:And finally, we've heard that Artisan has cleared up the details regarding their long-awaited Glengarry Glen Ross DVD — we're expecting a new release this November, and we'll let you know when we get the specs.
I like this movie too. dvdjournal.com discussed this a long while back, but they don't have searchable archives. If I remember correctly, the rights to the film's distribution are currently split up between different companies, so it won't come out on DVD unless people sit down and work something out. (I think it is similar to the situation with the Who's very early albums.)
I would guess that there may not be enough of a market for this movie to make it worthwhile to split the baby for the time being, especially if the studios still many easy pickin's to release from the vaults.
Market, that can't be it--it's very cheap to produce dvd's -if you can get the video--why not the dvd?I remember when cd's first came out, and I couldn't get Joan Jett and Adam Ant albums on cd, they said the same thing, rights to the titles were in litigation because the owner died (something to that effect).
It seems people would work these things out quickly--to make a buck or two? Everyone wins a little vs no one gets thing (for dvd sales).
