Follow Ups:
A bummer marathon with great movies! Actually, I can't stand Titanic. But many of these are classics, I agree.

I guess you just can't be a sophisticated cineaste these days unless you very quickly proclaim that you hated "Titanic" if anyone brings it up in even the most oblique manner and even if no one asked for your opinion. But better still, to claim your credentials, say you weren't able to sit through the entire movie. Best yet, claim you never saw it in a theater, but were somehow "forced" to see parts of it much later on video. And of course if you're male, claim your girlfriend dragged you to see it completely against your will. And to REALLY solidify your status as a discerning film enthusiast, lament the fact that "L.A. Confidential" (Does anyone still remember that one?) didn't win the Best Picture Oscar instead.Hahaha. It's so laughably predictable. Not that I'm the biggest fan of Titanic (I DO like it though), but I find today's fashionable and seemingly universal backlash against the movie almost as humorous as its original hyper-popularity.
that it didn't know what to be, so it ended up being crappy.
I am a very tough customer of films. Here is a list of films I actually walked out of, in order of "suckiness":1) new Planet of the Apes
2) Pretty Women
3) The End of the Affair
4) 8mm
5) BlowI did not finish watching Titanic, but most of my friends loved it, and go on and on about it--and that hideous song! Yuck.
I think KP an I are the only ones who didn't even finish Titanic--really, I walked away after watching it for a half hour, and KP put up with it for about hour and a half.Titanic:
Here is a sappy love story for the girls-
cut to special effects, something for the boys
now back to the love story quick,
back to something for the boys-
cut to non gender specific special effects
etc, etc, etcTitanic had nothing on the classic Das Boot NOTHING!
I even enjoyed the Perfect storm, and here is one, remember the Poseidon Adventure? Great movie!Story: I'm in my living room crying over a perfect storm. I say to myself "get a grip, it's just a movie!" I tell KP--look at me I'm crying over a silly movie--KP says it really happened--WHAT!
