With james Woods as the head vampire killer.
It added a nice spin to the usual vampire bullshit.
Nice special effects with lots of vampires being "staked"
YECHy
Follow Ups:
The movie is a pale imitation of the book IMHO, but I'm biased because I know the author, John Steakley, and the book all too well! In this particular novel John featured quite a few of his friends as characters (i.e., by name, no less, with their permission), and I have the dubious honor of saying that my somewhat illustrious character survived to the end of his book. :o)Here's a bit more trivia. I met my wife, Roxanne, as an indirect result of John's book. We were both guests at a Dallas area space science & SF convention 11 years ago, but we'd only met casually. However, she came up to me at a dance the second night of the conference and floored me by asking the following question: "Is it true that you go through women like an International Harvester through a wheat field?" For those who haven't read Vampire$, that was a line spoken by the character John dubbed "Cherry Cat" [Note: My middle name, which I also sign my work under, is Cat; he combined that with the last name of fellow artist and mutual friend David Cherry, brother of the highly regarded SF author C.J. Cherryh. John based the character of Cherry Cat on my somewhat *ahem* overblown reputation with women and David's former career as a corporate law attorney in Oklahoma.] Anyway, to make a long story longer, after I picked my jaw up off of the floor and the laughter subsided Roxanne and I started dating and the rest is history!
So, YECH, as you can see, there's a lot more to the story of Vampire$ than John Carpenter's paltry effort.
And as usuall the book is better,i'll have to take your word on that. But I will.
