Many people have tried to make sense of the "Mulholland" storyline. Personally, I don't think that there is any purpose in trying to solve this possible. Why?

Lynch made "Lost Highway" and in the middle of that he CHANGED the lead character -- completely changed him! All kinds of people read into that and interpreted it and came up with all sorts of explanations for it. However, in a Lynch interview he simply admitted he did it to do it and there was no real reason! I think MD is the same.
