AI is a good movie until the end, where Spielberg tries too hard to answer all questions, it seems. He's addressing very hard questions and provides answers for them too. Not very convincing. However, it's agreeing with popuplar belief and reassuring the mass.
This is something Kubrick would never do.

Spielberg was optimistic about human nature, whereas Kubrick was
pessimistic, resulting in a mixed set of lightness/darkness. - AH
