check out The Burning Bed with Farah Faucett. OUCH!For Years, when my mom would have a "tiff" with my dad, she would say "that's OK honey, you just go on to bed--wink wink" They were weird like that--married 35 years--and then got divorced in their mid fifties--go figure.
Follow Ups:
so they married when they were 15?

OK Dr Darkstar---I'm a teacher, so I will take the liberty---
55 minus 35 is 20, and that's when they were married give or take a year!:o)
You must be having a blah day--but I will tell you, you had me really worried for a second---for a SECOND!mp
probably the dad didn't fully realize the value of the mom, i don't know. you're never too old to make a mistake.have you seen the fairly recent movie, 'happiness'? that's an intersting film. i don't know if anyone is happy in it. two of the characters are the mom and the dad, i guess in their fifties. quite interesting characters especially the dad.
but soooo hard to watch. Has any film handled a tougher subject so unflinchingly, with no easy answers? And so many unforgettable characters: the chubby guy slobbering over the icy neighbor babe; the psycho fatty; the daffy sister; the lecherous dad, etc. I think one of the best films I've seen in years.
but Mrs. "Piggy" says "fatty" is unkind. You should use the term "weight challenged" Ha ha--you think that's funny---mark my words---that will be the new PC term (the way things are going). But seriously:
It is DEFINATELY the darkest comedy I have ever seen. The way the "perfect wife" deals with her sister (the less than perfect one who falls in the clutches of that strange Russian immigrant) is so quietly horrendous! And the fear of death in the parents is palpable.mp
I posted, just a wee bit ago, about that very title and gave a brief description. It is with the best movie titles post...check it out and see if I'm on the money?mp
it had to be the mom-dad issue that caused the synchronicity.after you wrote in this thread, you went right on to mention the title in the other thread. and after i read your post in this thread, that movie came to mind.
i agree, it was a very good film. a touch raw in it's exposure but very well done.
