I got this DVD at Tower and the sound is the worst. It is a shame because it has music from Miklos Rocxza, I have the LP and the sound and the music is great. Do not buy this DVD. I think we are beginning to see the situation seen earlier with CD. The big corporations are trasfering thousands of movies quick to DVD to make an easy buck without maintaining quality.

Sure, the sound transfer isn't outstanding by today's standards, but keep in mind that it's a pre-1980 release; home theater wasn't even a blip on the radar back then. IMHO, the sound isn't all that bad and it's an excellent movie; I wouldn't disuade folks from purchasing it at all! Perhaps you just got a bad pressing. It can happen, you know.
I had to increase the volume just to hear the dialogue. Glad to hear is not all DVD's. I am taking back to Virgin......
