How about instead of all these expanded editions and director’s cuts, the industry could produce concise editions or viewer’s cuts? It would be a great time-saver, for one thing. I wouldn’t have sat through 90 minutes of Mr. Deeds last night and found better things to do if they had just cut the movie down to what’s actually funny, say 10-15 minutes (or less). Or maybe I should just stick to trailers...

Watch better movies. Ones that actually have plots and character development and a payoff at the end (otherwise known as a "climax"). Ones that captivate you and leave you thinking for hours if not days afterward. That might rivet your attention a little bit better . . .
