How about: 1) Trouble in Mind. Excellent Alan Rudolph film with Kris Kristopherson, Lori Singer, Keith Carradine and Divine, as Hilly the mob boss. 2) The Stunt Man. Peter O'toole as the mad (what else) film director and delicious Barbara Hershey. 3) The Loved One. a morbid comedy with excellent writing and performances by jonathan Winters, John Geilgud, robert Morris and rod Steiger as "Mr. joyboy". Way ahead of its time.
Follow Ups:
I haven't seen The Loved Ones film but the novel is one of our favorites. Rod Steiger? That alone makes it worth seeing.
Steiger is unforgettable in that role! I don't think the film is available on dvd as yet but perhaps vhs. A young Paul Williams (the singer) also has a role as the young rocketeer!
I told my wife about it and she wants it. So I will check our store. Thank you for reminding me about this one. We both fell in love with the novel during our first year of marriage, and I stole the book from the company library... sorry, there was no way to buy it, but we HAD to have it.
