The original is the kind of piece of moderate junk you can watch and actually not regret spending your evening time. Great for those occasions when you wife and dog are already asleep and no one will stun you with that unpleasant "You are watching THIS?!!????!!!" treatment.Little surprise, actually, as it comes from Jonathan Lynn, who gave us My Cousin Vinny - one of the great films of the past decade.
Follow Ups:
"My Cousin Vinny - one of the great films of the past decade."And I thought you were a highbrow ;-)
It is an awful lot of fun.

You are right, the film is full of fun, and when the maker is having good fun, so do the viewers.
not bad-looking either! - AH
How's the search for perfect Solaris going?
for the Solaris vis a vis 2001 piece that you´d mentioned. Remember
recommending it to you sometime ago, so it´s in the archives at this
forum, can´t remember exactly when and the details, but WILL find
it for reference. Plan on watching Solaris on the small screen the
end of November; maybe the remake on the Big Screen too. Then, as you´ve
suggested, the novel. Think this will be an interesting project. Will
keep you up-to-date. - AH

Is the address correct? I'd like to read it again.
http://www.underview.com/2001.html, then see at midpage - New: more
from the underview archives: type in "Solaris", then hit search
prompt, should take you there. Any more problems, let me know. - AH
i purchased this disc a year or so ago. wherehouse music was selling discs previously used by netflix for under $10, so i figured i'd give it a shot. it is a great movie to have around. bruce willis doesn't get enough credit for his non die-hard roles (12 monkees, sixth sense, etc.)
Hum, I saw it myself...bad..very bad.
I suppose we are becoming increasly ga-ga.
At least, Hollywood have won.
if it doesn't have guns or explosions in it, I'll usually take a pass.
