Interesting theory, although I don't know if I can buy it. I personally found EWS fascinating because of its enigmatic weirdness, and I don't know why so many here on this board dismiss it as mere crap.It certainly follows the pattern of his other works, lead characters who have little or no control over their destinies, manipulated by their environments and some outside force. Was it an enjoyable experience? No, but I think the whole point of it was to make the viewer as uncomfortable as possible. And, in that respect, it was a success.
I think it was sheer brilliance that SK teased us with that sexy trailer, only to hit us over the head with a film that defied every expectation.
