Talk about something we all can relate to... something like American Beauty. Are you a snob or something?I can't say I love Tavernier much, but La Vie et rien d'autre was funny in places, and Passion of Beatrice is one of my guilty pleasures.
Of course my wife disagrees...
Follow Ups:
Since most, have no passion whatever for French films...A propos " A.Beauty" I try to look at it a second time on DVD...Yes try,
as I break up in the first third of it....And now my favorite word...Boring..After thinking twice, yes, Victor I must be akind of a snob..Or the " others " must be foolish....
He-he, Patrick, I don't have any specific passion for French films either, nor for Elglish or Italian or Japanese ones... I love *good* ones. Please don't bother with the Beauty again - it ain't worth it... boring...
But you must admit, that in your contry people watch more and more trash too. I know this is also the case in Russia, where good film culture used to be so strong... now most movie theaters are closed - converted into casinos. People watch the videos only, and guess what they watch... your typical trash. The few remaining theaters show the Western blockbusters - because that means money.
Such pity...
> > now most movie theaters are closed - converted into casinosFor the last two years the tide is backwards, although usually it's cheaper to built a new theater from scratch than retrofit an old barn. In some towns, it's even more visible than Moscow (SPB, as usually, lags behind the crowd).
And what they show in those new theaters is the Lord of the Ring and that Potter guy.Bleah!
Are there any theaters in Moscow showing good films these days? In Leningrad there used to be a couple such places, working full time. I presume ditto for former Moscow.
How about now?
Same places as 10 years ago. Illuzion. Hanjonkov. Gusman's.
Yes, but in the end you are almost the ONLY one on this planet who knows and talk about French films....
I donīt care who makes the film as long it is watchable.
Beauty...I put it in the most remoted place in my house...What curious is, that since this film, I...despite the actor in it.
Yes of course, everywhere the same, just a small minority of frogs who likes hand made films, and if you look at the disgusting merde, that the cinema Francais produce ( Belphegore, Asterix, Le Pacte Des Loups ...)
You just want to throw up.
I told you before, that it is style as opposed to a good strory.
Digital against analog.
Money against art.
Alice against harry P.
I must be an terrible snob.
