Thanks for the info on Solaris. I saw it listed but forgot about it so will pick it up this month.T-180's are available (as are 200's!) but I've no experience with them, preferring not to use anything over 160 mins. Seems to me the tape might be a tad thin. I could not be without two VCR's and one must always be a Panasonic because they have three recording speeds. The second machine must have a flying erase head. I'm presently using a Toshiba but will be picking up a JVC HR-5911U. I do a lot of tape editing and have built up a nice collection of stuff I've pulled from TV.
If you've only one VCR and don't want to use the SLP speed I'd suggest popping another tape in at the commercial break.
Follow Ups:
but all of the times in December are while I'm at work. And I hate to use the SLP mode. Looks like I'll have to time my lunch hour to change tapes.
I gave at the office!
Criterion just released it.
***And I hate to use the SLP mode.I wouldn't use it either, but you don't need to - the LP mode gives you 4 hours and is adequate in terms of its quality given your source - the broadcast.
