In Reply to: Am I the only one who got The Producers DVD??? posted by cfraser on December 07, 2002 at 01:52:49:
No one apparently got this long-awaited set too...it's the holidays, and everyone is in a frenzy ! Lousy time to release a long awaited disc, as no one awakens until after the New Year.
Follow Ups:
Pardon the 'Irish Spring' ad in there. I am one of those 'Glengarry Glen Ross' fans who has been awaiting this release on DVD as well. Got it first day it came out, but am a bit dissapointed with the bonus extras. Otherwise, the remastered transfer to DVD is nice!
good to see you posting again! i was thinking about posting a "where's mikenyc?" post. i liked all the updates and news that you used to post.
I don't own the Producer's DVD yet, but Glengarry Glen Ross is excellent; I thought everybody here probably already bought it. Come to think of it though, someone probably should make a list of recommended recent releases. You and cfraser started it with the Producers & Glengarry Glen Ross, I'll continue it with:*The Duelists (Ridley Scott, classic Napoleonic period film)
*Lord of the Rings (Extended Fellowship of the Ring)
*Monterey Pop Festival Complete (Criterion)
*Babylon 5 (1st Season, anamorphic WS of excellent SF series)Also on order & highly anticipated (presumably recommended):
*Die Nibelungen (Restored 5 hr Fritz Lang epic silent of Siegfried & Kremhild's Revenge)
*Mysterious Island (Harryhausen does Verne; neat flick!)
*The Tenant (Polanski, minor classic white knuckle horror flick)On Pre-order:
*Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 3 (3rd in the series of one of the best guilty pleasure, downright fun TV shows ever produced; will be released shortly after the first of the year)
*Red Dwarf Seasons I & II (Infamous irreverent British SF farce; first 2 seasons will be released in February)I'll provide a more complete "Audiophilander's Recommended List" along with caveats at a later date! ;^)
I will get Minority Report, North by Northwest, Psycho. Maybe the Mickey Mouse cartoons. That's about it until the end of the year, unless I missed something new coming out. Not impossible: though I had been specifically waiting for Producers, I had completely forgot it was coming out this week.
I agree with "The Duelists" and "Monterey Pop Festival"...and I will add the following to mine..."Serpico"
"Back To The Future" 3 dvd set
"Behind the Scenes at the Walt Disney Studios: Walt Disney Treasures Limited Edition (two-disc set) (1937-57)"
"To Catch A Thief"
"State of Grace"
"Where's Poppa ?"
"Fat City"
"A Kiss Before Dying"
"Roman Holiday"
"Solaris"
"Contempt"
"Queen...The Complete Videos"
"David Bowie...The Complete Videos"
But still not look at it...
I don't blame you. You have to be in a certain frame of mind to look at this film.
Exactly, it is what I felt.
