Neil Gebb (GANGSTER CUTOUTS) has been signed by Warners for the remake of REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. Indie Gebb took Golden Globes, the Cannes Prix d'or and three Academy Award nominations for his GANGSTER CUTOUTS. The film (with a record low budget of under $100,000,) was composed almost entirely of found materials, including stock footage from YOJIMBO, FISTFULL OF DOLLARS, and LAST MAN STANDING, all of which were based of Dashiel Hammet's "Red Harvest",which also served as the inspiration for Gebb's own "screenplay". The text of the Hammet novel, he says, was cut up and rarranged according to "I Ching operations." Now, for his first major studio outing, he has selected Arnold Schwatzeneger to reprise James Dean's signature role. A sneak peek at the dailies looks promising. In the famous "Try the desk" scene, where a tortured Jimmy used his fists, Arnold employs ordnance more in keeping with his own screen persona. Look for REBEL summer 2003.
