Minority Report, Punch Drunk Love and About Schmidt (honorable misses all) and substitute LOTR: the Two Towers, Marvin XTC and Bowling for Columbine and I could be happy. I really liked Secretary too, and would probably find a place in my top twenty for it. I think there are others I'd probably choose as well, but my brain is failing at this instant, lol.I haven't seen Morvern Callar, The Pianist, Time Out, Russian Ark, or What Time Is It There. Also haven't seen The Hours, which is notably absent from this list.
I loved The Fast Runner, Spirited Away, Adaptation, Talk to Her and 24 Hour Party People and will buy them on DVD. Far From Heaven was very good, but probably not my number one.
Sometimes VV critics they're just a little too special. I don't really care what they think. Another year, another list.
Follow Ups:
damn right they are....but the Voice is not exactly "Time" or "entertainment weekly"....haven't you seen the ads!?! those wacky east coast villager snobs! though it sure was fun following that papers suggestions around in high school and undergrad.agree on pulling punch drunk and minority report. both the usual suspects trying too hard yet again. was gonna see adaptation tonight, but clark had to go and remind me of the Mehta movies below. sheesh...maybe tomorrow.
