I heard a French celebrity (sorry, can't remember the name) on an English talk show describe the wine as tasting like "squid ink". But he said Gerard makes a lot of money selling it... to Americans.
"Oh no, I can't do anything to the death. Doctor's orders. You see, I have this ulcer condition, and death is the worst thing for it."
Follow Ups:
I think I read somewhere that he bought new and better wineyards...
Letīs hope for better quality for the US...

Well, smart Americans don't drink the French stuff. You get better wine for far better prices elsewhere. Only cheap snobs or super-rich still buy them here :-))) I just had two bottles of Australian wine for $15 ea (bought on special recommendation), and they were to die for. You would have to pay $50 or so for a French drink to equal that quality.
Did you see Vatel?
One of my daughter brought me back a botlle of Chardonnay from South Africa...It was terribly bad. But it was bad luck...any way I will stick to Bourgone & Loire & Alsace & Rhine...
Vatel, no, did even try, after reading the critics....But as said above I try Napoleon......
