Yup, sure it was predictable in an Alfred Hitchcock sort of vein, but it had terrific startle factor and was more eery because it lacked the specific effects and left more to the imagination. I think people look for too much in a lot of films and forget that it's just entertainment.BTW: I just rented Mel's other recent film, When We Were Soldiers. That one has plenty of blood and gore, too much really, but then war is about blood and gore. It's billed as Mel's best since Braveheart and I'd probably agree, he's surely at home playing the war hero.
