cinemaphotography lush and beautiful. Story line is haunting and ehtereal. But I just am not convinced the lead character (father) could do what was done. I think there was a lack of character development there. The movie was too abridged.mp

As a father I thought it was the most realistic film ever made as far as what that event would do to you. I can easily see myself feeling and doing exactly the same. I'm experiencing a mental block now and can't think of the actors name but I thought his performance blew Sissy Spacek off the stage.
I enjoyed the movie as a re-working of a classic family struggle, but as far as "dad"--he sure didn't seem like the type. Maybe that was the point of the film, only there wasn't enough convincing development. Wilkinson did deserve his accolades, though.
