Greetings,I recently ordered 2001 from among what appeared to be 4 different options. It looked like the 1st one available has the cover of Chris what's his name in space helmet. Then there is the one in the Kubrick box collection. The third has a cover of the space station and finally the special edition.
I went for number three. It appears to be the remastered edition w/o the seperate CD musical soundtrack and other goodies found in the special edition.
Am I correct in this assumption??? Any comments would be appreciated.

I believe you are correct, but the key question is whether or not the picture is enhanced for widescreen TVs. The first release was not; I believe this is. Another difference, along with no SE content, is that on the enhanced disc the menus are NOT animated.John K.
