I thought it was terrific! I liked it much better than Lynch's Fascist Italy inspired motion picture effort. Of course, my film preferences run to pure junk. Anyone else see and appreciate this miniseries?
Follow Ups:
I thought it was well done, better than the first mini-series, to me at least. I think they actually toned down the the costumes for this one...
Well, the story could hardly be any more current or relevant.I've only read the Dune books once, so I'm no scholar of the subject. On a positive note, combining Children and Dune Messiah into one miniseries was a good idea, as those two are heavy on philosophy and politics and light on action and events. Still, it was hard for me to watch the vision sequences and understand what the characters were feeling or experiencing. And I've never really understood why the Golden Path was feasible for the son [Bush Jr.?] but impossible for the father (I guess Arrakis had to be 'destroyed' first by Paul in order to be rebuilt better by the son). The portrayal of Baron Harkonnen was excellent, and I enjoyed the "evil stepmother" acting of Susan Sarandon, reminiscent of Angela Lansbury in "The Manchurian Candidate." And I thought Alia was hot!!! Heck, let's face it, there were a lot of good-looking actresses in this miniseries. And the costumes were killer. But some of the CGI effects were poorly rendered.
Gave me some great decorating ideas. Great sets. I liked the special effects, the sound quality was very good. So that's what the post Shaddam empire looks like.
