you wash up alone on shore atop an airtight crate, filled with all your
technical gear for filmwatching(assume all problems taken care of
in this respect) and two films(for minimum alternation). Plan on staying at least one year.
What would those two films be? - AH

I think I would just take one film: Stan Brakhage's DOG STAR MAN. After a year of study I might be able to discover many of its fugal layers of reference and meaning. This work, by the way, falls under the catagory of perfect works of art I mentioned in an earlier post.
Amelie for pop-creativity and Orlando for beauty.
The real question is whether any guy here will admit he'd have at least one red-hot, turgid porno movie?
two ADDITIONAL films, besides the turid porno movie.
And if you could only pick one, well it wouldn't even be worth discussing now would it.:o)

I myself would probably pick two of "the finest in European 'R' rated adult entertainment" (said with a thick French accent :o))

.
What about yours? - AH
I only ever borrow the hard-core stuff from friends as there's no way I'd give my card details to the companies who supply such material, and they usually comprise of various clips shoe-horned onto one video; "Animal Farm" was very interesting however. :0)Don't suppose I'd be too bothered if I was stuck on an island though......
How about you go first?I had stated my favorites sooo many times already I am a bit shy now.
this particular film forum. Do remember some being played at
audioreview. As for feeling shy, please donīt be, as I for one
would not condemn or criticize any redundancies. Moreover,
hopefully, new blood is circulating at this forum and
perhaps some may have missed your oft stated faves. As for my
two picks, a good chance would be "Forbidden Planet" and a six-hour
VHS tape composed of various footage that I edited from many, many
different films, entitled "Mishmash". - AH
We played the Time Capsule, and 5 or 10 best ever... same deal. But no big deal, just teasing you.
My choices would be quick and simple. I would take Barry Lyndon for serious insightful vewing full of beauty and music (both acoustical and visual), plus great depth, and My Fair Lady for the timeless, tireless all-engulfing fun with sparkle, and yes, more beauty... plus some words of wisdom of the "Why can't the women be like men?" kind.
"There once was a weed, his name was Willy,
when he wished to be a rose, others thought
him silly;
Now he wished and wished, baking in the sun,
but never a change, while the roses were having
fun.
Willy committed suicide under a mowerīs blade,
cause only roses could appear on cans of Glade!"Never saw Barry Lyndon, may have to give it a
viewing, did see My Fair Lady many years ago,
an excellent choice. Still have to see the
original Solaris too. - AH
What - you think you got 9 lives to live? Hurry up!Barry needs to be swallowed in one big shot... so make sure you have plenty of time, no interruptions, and.... immerse!!!!!!
Unforgettable.
And...My fair lady....And as I am a little vicious I would take one of Ingmar....well hidden..from your yes....
There would be a few dozen directors I would have picked before him. Snooooooooozer.......Bergman? On that darn island one would already be contemplating a suicide, so Bergman would be dangerous.
I actually thought about such marvels as Bicycle Thief, but still took the Barry because the Thief tells a very small story. Like no one else, but still very limited, while Barry has many planes to it.
But even on the island of the sun you have to sssleep....
Anyway one day we will have to discuss the Hitch issue-you know that- I know that...Well....
Damned..always to quick.
