You should NOT misse.
Very British, quite, in the same music vein as " Local Hero " but totally different.
Painted in pastell, with the lightess of an cloud.
It could like a good wine, mature in time.
Watch it-

...together, and enjoying their togetherness, was over the top!A crepuscular film, worth every minute of it. And yes, time makes a difference, both for wines, and for actors: some become just old vinegar, while other, like these ones, get their flavors ripe, and better balanced..., mature!
Best regards
Blow-up, after seeing the impressive list of actors on this picture, it was THE cult film of the sixties, in all the years I watch on tv always only parts of it ( came in always too late ) but I had the feeling of a strange and still fascinating film but outdated.
Maybe the best for redefining the time capsule from another time and another place, or with other words, to look at the glory of London & spririt of the sixties, without having a really good film. In one word a documentary.
What do you think ?
French or German? I watched it two nights ago and nearly snoozed through it. Sure . . . it was a nice study of some blokes honoring their buddy, but it was just a tad toooo long.Mirren, once upon a time, looked pretty good. I guess booze and cigarettes take it out of you. (Of course, she is always superb!)
Yes, you are right, this a film you can snooze through! But in the case you are following the slow develloping and the ( almost quite ) story, you have a lot of humor on the way, and touching scenes to look at. ( the only thing I did not like was the actor playing Caine in his younger years, he was too light in this role, the woman was georgeous)
Mirren was extraordinaire !
Probably not a young person's film. But a very subtle, moving film IMO.
