Yeah, I have to agree with you on this one Patrick.I thought it was supposed to be a comedy? Sure, it had a few laughs in it, but overall, a massive drag. What a complete waste of an extremely talented and daring cast. I found that same director's movie "Election" to be funnier, yet still oddly depressing.
I guess don't enjoy his films. They seem to be voyeuristic into peoples lives that you would never want to actually see. Too much dirty laundry posing as entertainment.
I mean, if you LAUGH at these people (especially Schmidt's daughter and her husband) you come across as a jerk. How can you laugh at such unfortunate people and not have your conscience make you feel guilty?
Follow Ups:
Too bad! I prefer disagreeing post...more fun...maybe I can find a way.... for disagreeing with what you do disagree about this film...Hum...
It never occure to me to laugh at the daughter.
This film want to look through masks. It want to show us some one who is disconnected from the society he lives in.
It fails to keep a good rythm and pace.
The only good thing was J.Nicholson almost completely getting ridden of his mannerism.
