Ordered Talk to Her, also the Crime, and the Songs of Almodovar - some of them are beautiful - he's got good taste in music.
Follow Ups:
Yes, in " Talk to her " the music was oustanding.
I hope you give " Frida " a try.....
I will drag me feet on this one. Films by women about women are usually quite weak. I hear you love it, and I will consider it, but all those "sex revolutionaries" and just simple sex addicts don't excite me - I mean it is OK to do, but the expectation that that side of their lives is somehow going to be of interest to others is stupid. What did Anais bring that has not been studies, described and lived thousands of times before?
There is absolutely nothing unique about being promiscuous, sleeping with men, women, dogs, etc, yet every now and then a movie maker will come along who feels that that alone makes for a "shocking" new film.
It ends up being exceedingly boring, like Henry and June was.
Was really boring ! Not even erotic...
Frida is NOT the perfect fim but one who you have to look at...just let your prejudices out of the...play ( remember I did with L´Homme...and it was hard..)
This film* is like an painting, you can look at it and be enchanted...let it flow...*I repeat : it is not going very deep, and the music is more than nice, in fact after seeeing him i would put him in the range of Almovar films even if with a lot less of humanity, but a more beutiful filming as the images are violently wonderful.
They say all French peed all over each other over that one.Did you see it? It is from 1970.
It is a French classical, I saw it in the seventy...I am sorry to admitte it but I do not like his style, he is so cold, so American film noir but more under a microscope...think of " Le Samurai " beautiful picture but so cold...But it is a long time ago, and I would have to revaluate his work...the problem is...I am not lusting after it.
Go for it and tell me, if you think so i will give it another try...
Frida is nothing to compare with...I would look at it first...as it ease more Mc Donald as Melville´s....
Have fun !
.
It was a show case, Melville wanted always to be more American than the American..it is cold & icy...a cult film...
.
Well, looks like it will have to wait - for the next couple of weekends it is working on the deck: my daughter bought the house and the deck needs to be rebuilt. So maybe I'll get Frida on DVD... who knows? You sure it is not another Anais? Your last chance to change your mind!
Are you Harrison Ford ? I can NOT use any of my ten fingers ! For building or repairing any thing.....That the price you have to pay when you have been brought us by only women....
You ( un? ) lucky one.
NO Anais. AND not an immortable Chef d´oeuvre. But an good entrée...who leave the palate for a more consistent " plât "....Good show.
Done my day of hammering nails - good weather, beer, good people around. Looks like at least two more such weekends will be needed before it is all done. I enjoy the carpentry... dangerous, but fun.Saw a Russian film last night, over which our family of two split 50-50... called Everything Will Be All Right.
I thought it was witty with good underlying humor, tongue in cheek to some degree, all the while exposing interesting human traits in an unuseal way. My wife thought they were all phony, shallow with empty eyes through which you can see the back of their skulls - but I think this is how it was intentioned.
Probably little chance of you finding this one, but makes sense to try at least.
Astrakhan film is not on any kind of video...Too bad as the title is to my liking....
So you did a good job ! I wish I could use my ten fingers....
Women are raising us as childs...they knows us from A....Z...we can not hide.
It is our fate..to be ensclave or to die as homosexual for ever in love with our nannies/ mothers.
It is a conjuration from mother nature...for our best ?
Well sometimes it looks so.
But having friends, ah !
Family is good, but friends....are the one who pick you out of the gutters.Women stamp on you...Does I sound like a mysogin....heu.....
Tonight I will re- look maybe at " Pepe le Mokko "...Or with this heat ( 38° ) to " The river Kwai " I love to look at film with the same weather as actual...curious manie....
Your French friend.
