Le Soleil was an 1970 picture with Gabin & Stack director J. Delannoy, it is by the Edition Montparnasse in France but sold out.
If you want a French copy I could try to find one on VHS...I may have seen it, it was an robbery of a bank..tragique...but I am not certain.......At the time I did go to the movie hours at least three time the week.....
Follow Ups:
...whom the thugs pull out of his "retirement".I believe it was from 1966.
Quite definitely it was one of the precursors to the popular Death Wish series.

She was a terrible actress.
How much younger is your wife ?
I am several months younger... she whole lot more mature.
That´s normal....
But he was ( Gabin ) robbing a bank.1970. I found it.
Gabin's whole career is a cartoon.:)
Loved him in Pepe Le Moco
And what a couple with Marlene, he, the rustical one word man, she the glamourous cooking super lady, he the French eating man, she the Remarque´s lover, he the French beau, she the lesbian....
