  It is our good old male only boarding schools that have given us homosexuals in powerful positions through-out the ages. They do appear to turn out a greater percentage of gays than say or normal secondary school system (high school to you yanks). Maybe it's from only have male influences around during your sexually formative years, or maybe its from being buggered rotten by the older boys and teachers. These are the schools that tend to feed into Oxford and Cambridge and then normally into the high earner jobs (the old school tie syndrome as its called over here). They are also where a number of the better actors originated . I think you will find the new generation of actors are quite straight.

  I know this answer and it's one thing that we less clever Americans have had a problem with for years... because only a culture as clever and sexually repressed as the British could come up with this... pure genius. Do you really want to know what it is? Here you are:

  They're not gay. They act gay to get the women.

  And yes, it must be the colleges... that's where they learn to be intelligent while we tend to have people try to ban parts of the curriculum or demonstrate against them thar homeysexuals for corruptin' our youts.

  It is common sense to conclude there are no more gay British actors than American. They are just more open about sexuality

  As they are so good at playing and get famous...The others actors from others countries never get that fame..ergo we do not speak so much about them...
  I think in the world of acting most are bi-sexual, be it women or men.
