and you'll get what you deserve: an "ass-sleeping." 2:20 min. of pure stupidity, which is ok, but could have been 90 minutes of fun. I actually took a few catnaps through it. As summer fun, it still isn't worth it, unless you're air conditioning isn't doing well at home.
(There's buzz about the Fx: it's nothing you haven't seen before, ad nauseum.)

From your pathetic leftist politics to your crass movie "review."
Just frikkin' endless.Rush was enjoyably over the top, Bloom was doing an obvious (and bad) Errol Flynn impersonation and Depp was an exact duplicate of Dudley Moore in Aurthur. Why did he play him as a slurring drunk wearing eye shadow? Much of the dialogue felt as though it was written the morning the scene was shot. Stilted, obvious and non too clever.
Why did Depp not turn into a skeleton when the moon shone on him earlier in the movie when he was in the jail cell? Stupid inconsistencies like this are just inexcusable in $100,000,000.00 movies.
Far too long, far too stupid, but I enjoyed the Air Conditioning on a hot summer day.
My wife and I were also appalled at the "Haunted Mansion" preview with Eddie Murphy. Shameless. The biggest laughs of the evening came over dinner after the movie when we were goofing on the pre-existing Disney rides that will get the movie treatment next. Personally, I can't stop laughing at the idea of a "Monsanto's ride through 'Inner Space', the movie". "Carousel of Progress, the movie."
Or how about "It's a small world" starring Keanu Reeves. The horror.Frankly, I don't know what you were hoping for with Pirates. Were you also disappointed with the ride?
LOL on your Keanu casting. Brilliant.I was sorta hoping the story wuld make sense. I was also hoping for original quip filled dialogue. I was also hoping for gorgeous Carribean locations, but the whole movie looked like it was shot on a cloudy day. I DID expect more, yes.
The stupid inconsistency you mention is actually something you missed. He turned into a skeleton later because he had just stolen the coin. He had never taken any of the coins earlier, hence no curse. Thought I'd point that out. Anyway, I enjoyed it.
anyway, as somebody said, Johnny was doing his Keith Richards impression.
.
and while it was long, I thought that it was enjoyable. Decent acting, good action scenes, interesting story.Of the four majors that I've seen this summer, I'd rank them:
X-Men 2 followed closely behind by
Pirates, then
T-3 and finally...
The Matrix Reloaded.
I felt like a 14-year-old boy all the way through. A smile on my face the whole time. And how long has it beeen, since we've seen ships at it, broadside to broadside?
Ships at it? Broadside to broadside?Since the last time Horatio Hornblower aired on A&E. Broadsides soon to be seen, one presumes, this November in Master & Commander: Far Side of the World.
The last third of POTC put me to sleep. Enjoyed the first third.
My summer fun movie willbe (I hope!) Seabiscuit.
Most fun I've had at the movie theater in a long time, and finally a good non-animated effort from Disney.
nhehehe....
I thought the movie had come to a logical conclusion and I was ready to bolt, but NO, it continued. It was "fun". Depp was amusing (playing Keith Richards). But, they could have saved some celluloid by cutting it short.
