Tatoo on the posterior of a henchman impersonating the Arch Bishop of Canterbury in Johnny English.If you have a typically Amurhrican sense of humor you might get a few snickers out of this film. If you find English humor amusing you will get a few really good laughs.
Rowan did manage to hold off from the "Full Bean" approach to give a predictable but amusing performance. Unfortunately, Malkovich probably deserves the prize for Worst French Accent. (But, Brit humor being what it is--it was probably intentional.)
The hijinks concluded with a moment that would have fully satisfied Edmund Blackadder and all his descendants. Of course, it was fully intentional. 8^)

I would think it sucess if Rowan Atkinson played the Nigel Small-Fawcett character he did in Never Say Never Again

I understand that Malk lives in France, so I suspect very strongly that his awful French accent was at least somewhat intentional.Haven't seen the film yet, but your description reminds me of Kevin Kline's kludgey Eye-talian-speak in **I Love You to Death**; those who've seen **A Fish Called Wanda**, on the other hand, were treated to Kline's effortless pronunciation of Italianisms such as "mozzarella", "parmigiana" and -- that old standby -- "Benito Mussolini."
Come to think of it, did Malk affect a French accent in **Dangerous Liaisons**?

If Rowan had toned it down a bit as he did towards the end his character might have been more sympathetic rather than pathetic. The second half of the movie got better as he lost a little of the silliness.
