Sounds like the same concept, we see the ending first and go back through the event's beginning, as the film progresses.I have the DVD, but I didn't think that Memento was a remake.

Neither is a remake. Irreversible came out in 2001, I think. Even though the concept is the same, they really are two very different movies. One is just more gruesome, perhaps even unwatchable to some, than the other.
