Does anyone know the movie that began with a guy who stood up to a band of thugs and was savagely attacked by a gang of thugs, they used a chain to either strangle or maim him I can't remember. Very violent and chilling. i believe that particular scene took place at the Hunts Point Terminal market in the South Bronx NY but I can't be sure. I can't remember the rest of the story he may have been in a coma or was resurrected i don't remember. I believe it was from the 80's

A vintage B-movie riding on the coattails of the 'Death Wish' series. I believe this was done in the early '80's.

That sounds like the scene where Jeff Bridges character was down and out and the gang of punks was going to set him on fire. Then Robin Williams' character (And his band of do-gooders) came to his aid with a chain (and I believe a crossbow). Perry (Robin Williams' character was in a coma prior to that). I believe the story had messiah/savior overtones.
