neglected GREAT comedy I know. Don't know why it's not more popular...several of the actors became quite famous after it's release. The dealer with the huge spliffs became a famous preacher!
It is also the most realistic film I know about what the late 60's-early 70s were like: DRUGS!
The scene with the tough guy hassling them in the bar is classic: "I called you a poof!"
Damn, now I gotta go rent it...for the 50th time!
Follow Ups:
I agree with you about that film capturing the spirit of those times, Ralph Brown is also in Alien 3 *cringe* and the Crying Game (as a bar tender)
Had a beer at the pub where they filmed the "I'll call you a ponce" scene when I was last in London; they call it the Mother Black Cap in the film but it has a different name
Appreciate your posting!

One of the very few movies I turned off. And I am usually curious and can watch just about anything.
applauding "The Magdalene Sisters."
***applauding "The Magdalene Sisters."Also your favorites, I presume?
received it yet. Are you condemning it w/out seeing it?
I have run this film by USA friends and they seen completely oblivious to the humour; its a VERY British take on the subject which has a subtlety and culture all its own, British friends are left in hysterics at every turn, Americans remain simply non-plussed
Such is the nature of cultural difference, which we are all the richer for

and not the Magdalene Sisters! If I was missing the humor in that, I have to say I'm proud of myself.;-)
