What a bore. Nicholas Cage: a buffed leading man who allows himself to grow a pot and act neurotic is NOT convincing. He must have still been in character from "Matchstick Men," or is it vice-versa? How many Jewish neurotics (American Splendor) can one watch in one month? It was, basically, the same character. Hollywood used to be enamored with physical dysfunctionals, "Rain Man," the Sean Penn characterization, Billy Bob Thornton's "Switchblade," etc.
"Adaptation:" one enormous tribute to "Whiners' Woad." (But Chris Cook was phenomenal, as usual; Meryl was mahvelous, too).

It's Chris COOPER. "Lone Star," "American Beauty," and several other films, including "Adaptation," prove he's the match of any actor currently working.
