"The Good Thief" it is called...i donīt particulary like Nik Nolte, and in fact he overplay his role in evry kind imaginable way, but still retain a kind of charm...when he do not speak...
It is a remake of J-P Melville " Bob Le Flambeur " ( after this remake I just placed an order on it , as this film is so old in my memory..) who is the most American of all the French directors, reflecting in the best possible way the love / hate between France and the U.S....
Mr. Melville was an inspiration, I think for all the " nouvelle vague " who sweept in the 60īs France and the wwhole world later on...
Back to this film, it is modern but not too much ennoying, I mean it is nervous and repititive, well you know the way they do them today when " they want to reach a young public "...
You have to look at it and think..god that is NOT my world..yeah baby but it is A world outside that do exist...
What I did like is is sheer erotic and sexuel atmosphere, never to be seen but inplanted in your brain as somtehing that did already happend to you and more, what could still cross your way.
The actors are fine, the girl more than sexy...the story intelligent and you have to keep pace with it if you donīt want to be the looser on the continuty...
The music I loved ( save the opening, maybe )
It mostly play in the region I did grow up...
What can I ask more?PS: It is a " criminal " film.....But one without the moral that is one of the most modern Hollywoodian pleague....
