You may have a better handle on the more recent Russian films - do you mind to look at the catalogue and make a short list (Gee, I dunno... 30... titles?)The catalogue is mouth watering, and I already either have seen or own many of them, but quite a few titles draw complete blank.
Follow Ups:
Don't forget Kino's release of "Come and See"(which I have) is actually the Ruscico release.
The package is Kino and the 2 dvds have paper "Kino" stickers over the Ruscico name on each dvd. I believe it is still available directly from Kino.I also have both the Ruscico release of "War and Peace" and "Anna Karenina". I still have not watched them ; waiting for the appropriate mood to allow a total immersion.

Well, Come and See is definitely not my favorite movie, spending on a rental was more than I would be willing to pay for it. My wife woud pay to have the tape thrown out, actually... but she is much more sensitive than I am.Did you like it?
That particular "Anna" I have not seen, but you would have to bribe me rather heavily to see Samoilova in the title role... and Zarkhy is not a good director, I think,... but let us know how it goes down.
I noticed their list is sprinkled with wery weak films - their selectin seems to be quite haphazard.
But good luck with W&P... while not the bst film ever, it is something to appreciate.
Let me begin by saying that their prices are on the high side.I'll look into it, but you do you remember our OFT times diametrically opposing tastes..
And no Anjelica Markiza Angelov! Jean Rochefort was not bad there, though.Prices ARE highish, that is why I have not bought anything from them yet, but then so are the Criterion's ones. Some DVD's are in the $20's range, and it seems the shipping is included! When I ordered the War & Peace the total was "just" $65.
a
Of course he told me after I paid $65 already.

I have only seen one work by Proshkin - To See Paris and Die - and that was I thought a rather tortured and unnesessary film. The "Cold Summer of 53" doesn't sound like a relaxing family viewing either - you saying it is good?
