that Nicholson WAS Jake Gittes? That was a flawless performance, as was Faye Dunaway's.

absolutely loathe. I saw this on its release and didnt see what all the fuss was about; I tried again just a few months ago watching this on video and about the only thing I can say from both viewings I actually liked was the yellow Packard roadster, which occupies the screen less than 1% of the movie, unfortunately
It probably doesnt help that I have never been a fan of Jack Nicholson, though I think he is great in the Passenger with Maria Shriver, Faye Dunaway is also great in the Thomas Crown Affair, both from around this era too; there was a bit of a renaissance of cinema in the 1970s
I am really the last person to pass judgement on Nicholson in this film
