There were other notable performances in the film. Ktorov was superb as Andrei's father. Shuranova as his sister. Yefremov as Dolokhov. Zakhava as Kutuzov was incredible, I thought. Vertinskaya made too many young Russian men sleepless - she is one of the most bueautiful women of the last century. Trofimov in his small role of Tushin - he is an incredibly good actor, quiet, unimposing, but talented and versatile. Rybnikov was interesting as Denisov, he used to do to the Russian women what Vertinskaya did to men. Russian James Dean? Lanovoy did all that later, he is not the greatest actor, but got the looks - he is great in uniforms.I think by now I have softened Anya enough - getting her heady for the double-marathon.
Follow Ups:
Ktorov ( as this Russian names..) was marvellous, and slowly becoming gaga was a tour de force of subtility...Shuranova was very cold but her beauty developes when she has to act and her sensibility becomes apparent then.
This film is worth at least 5 to 6 visions.
One of the obstacle for me is the language and the unusual name, I have to work slowly at it.
But nothing will let me forget dear Ludmilla.
You will love Liudmila there, I am sure.I asked my contacts in Petersburg to find out where she is and what she is doing... married and to whom... you know, the normal stuff man needs to know!
I would..if I could! But were can I get it? Not on Amazon....and Google was of no help....
Married....I do hope not anymore...We would have a chance then....
I saw the VCD on ebay:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3368003167&category=617
The babe on the left is your Liudmila.
I don't know if you feel like taking chance with Ruscico, they have it in their catalog, but not yet released, so if you wait...
The movie is not great, but it has quite a few great performances, most notably by Dvorzhetsky, Yevstigneev and Ulianov.
Thank you, but I will wait, I prefer to have a DVD with under titles, what I am not certain with this item!
