I usually find her range from indifferent to quite irritating but this time it was different for the first time. The film is not some significant work, but an actor hardly needs another Citizen Kane to show what he can do. It turns out in this case Birthday Girl will do just fine.
The movie is one of those fun trips you will quicky forget, and you might even dislike if you paid to see it and were expecting something significant. But if it simply pops up on your cable menue and you have nothing better at the moment - delve right into it!
Nicole is completely convinsing as the Russian mail-order bride. In fact she is fun to watch, which is not a small accomplishement for that actress.
I therefore nominate that one as the best role of her career.
Follow Ups:
she played a pretty good 'bitch', imo.
You would argue she did not play there? Well, this is exactly why I liked it.
Sorry, in my book she is not an actress.
I think that was Demi Moore. Not too good.Nichole was in 'The Others' though. Not too bad.

I'll try harder.
I liked "To Die For" very much.
.
You can like her or not ( my case ) but she really try hard, that has to be recognise...
I just watched for the second time, with equal pleasure. Her performance is brilliantly multi-layered. It does take a second watching to understand how cleverly she varied her emotional pitch as the drama deepened.
