Chris,
I agree...however, I think you must have a penchant for "black humor" to really appreciate Billy Bob as Bad Santa.
I saw the film with five others, and I was the only one (sick and twisted enough?) to really enjoy it.
I even laughed at the foul language...this has got to be a new record for dropping the "F bomb" in a film.
I even find something funny in the image of a guy in a Santa suit, sitting at a bar with a drink and a cig in his hand...juxtapostion of themes, I suppose.
Happy Holidays!

but the whole dialogue was really something out of this world. And he wasn't just drinking, he'd slam back like four large shots in two minutes. And then the dressing room scene with the 'yeah baby, you ain't gonna shit right for a week' line was just too much, imo. You do have to be a bit warped to enjoy this one, but what the fuck?
I don't have a problem with an adult Santa movie, but there are comedic things, deeper than repeated over the top use of the F word which could have been explored, but weren't. It kind of reminded me of the lack of imagination and taste displyed so well by Howard Stern, day after day after day. I also have a problem with dragging kids into the gutter language. There were several lines of dialogue that delivered to a room of adults may be funny, but delivered in front of and to 7 - 12 year olds during the filming of the script borders on child abuse. This film is not amusing.
I think that could have been toned down a bit. And, yes, Billy Bob makes his roles sooo real. He is a dirt road treasure.BTW, the opening voiceover while he was at the bar was totally priceless! This movie smelled like the Farrelly brothers. Liked it.
personally, I can see where some people like SR wouldn't find it funny, but there are people that one comes across in life, that really talk that way. I've met a few and it seems that they have no clue as to how they're speaking. Swearing is just second nature. As far as child abuse goes...ya think?
Anyhow, BBT is the epitome of trailer trash in this one and he alone made it an interesting snap shot of somebody who shouldn't be having kids.
