I truly loved this movie.It is about as tasteless and over the top as a mainstream movie can be. The sexual content is striking in it's myriad perversions. While it has a relatively happy and redemptive ending, it in no way pulls it's punch or goes soft the way virtually every other treacley holiday film does.
Director Terry Zwigoff (Crumb, Ghost World) continues to show that his vision of the fringe of society is right on target.
My new favorite X-mas film.

I mean, I don't know what was his biggest flaw?His total lack of manners while eating the salad at the mall in his Santa suit when the lady and kid approached? His total hard core drinking of Old Grand Dad by the mouthfull? His utter indifference to language when around kids. Lack of bodily function control? His being basically a safecracking bank robber? The way he moved in with total strangers and took over the entire house and car? Or his sexual prowess?
This was a classic for the ages.
Funny, but I was listening to the University Of Miami's VOICE OF FILM show on the radio last week and the guy stated that he was in a big threatre with a lot of seniors, who one by one, begain getting up and leaving as the film progressed. I guess that they didn't read the reviews?
