1. I haven’t yet found a theatre that serves a decent vin rouge.
2. Think you’ll ever see a marquee with a This is Spinal Tap and Breakfast at Tiffany’s double feature?
3. You don’t have to try to convince the projector operator to pause the film so you and the significant other can “get busy”.
4. Oooh… shiny….round….
5. No babysitter fee (which can then go to your wine budget).
6. Comfier chairs (or bed – see no. 3)
7. Not many theaters showing subtitled films in Oklahoma.
8. Glorious two-channel Stereo Sound!
9. The TV has a chance to redeem itself after eight hours of Cartoon Network.
10. If it’s crap, you can TURN IT OFF!
Follow Ups:
11. In most cases the transfer is better then the condition of the
film at theaters, even new films.12. The aspect ratio is correct in most cases.
13. The sound is better and at a comfortable level.
14. If you miss something or want to point out something you can
stop and go back or pause and talk.15. You can see any film you want at any time.
16. You can always sit in the sweet spot for optimunm line of sight
and sound.
***16. You can always sit in the sweet spot for optimunm line of sight
and sound.Well, maybe YOU can, I can't, as I put my wife in there.
Well at least chivalry isn't dead and SOMEONE gets the sweet spot!
The unique atmosphere of a theater is missing...
Welcome back!
That is an attraction. But I find just a few times a year satisfies that craving. And what do I find here after a long hiatus? Victor taking potshots at Citizen Kane (Blasphemer!) and waaay too much discussion about LOTR!
And someone needs to talk to AuPh - Merlot on New Years Eve? And probably a Texas Merlot!
;^)PS: We'll be popping corks on some champaign at a party tonight, as well!
I just had some Italian wine, heavy as crude oil, and I say - NO to Merlot!
any wine lover who appreciates strength and sublety---and the skill to bring them together.
hooray for cabernet!
Actually, there's a terrific Chilean merlot under the Santa Rita label. Also Vendange.
My girlfriend's brother is a Buchananite, and he recommends both.
Merlot--It's not just for Liberals anymore!
Merlot goes well with some food, but I still don't know why I'd pay twice as much for a Petrus as a Margaux (given similar vintages). Irrational - yep, your right, it must be a liberal thing!
And for tonight? Anything with "methode champenoise" on the bottle, thankyouverymuch!

I need the substance and well, body, you know... Although I have had some Merlot what was HEAVY and full-bodied... of course it also cost a lot, so maybe next year, with better economy!BTW - it was Shiraz last year too.
:o)
8^)
And do hope it will stay that way.
I could not bring up the thing with the Merlot..too soon after the LOTR affair.....Bonne année!

As for Victor, we agree to disagree, but are in pain to find something worth...That must be " Ame soeur "....
I have a really hard time staying awake for movies at home. Something about a good glass of wine, getting really warm and comfy, the hum of the VCR/DVD, and I'm asleep inside of twenty minutes.
And there's the problem of too much good drink as well! Last movies I rented, I also had a bottle of Baja Rosa on hand. Made it through the first flick, have no memory of the second. Woke up at five a.m., the DVDs were back in their cases, the TV was on, etc....
My wife and mother-in-law both have that problem (It took my MIL three times to completety view Enchanted April). So maybe a good cup of coffee would be more appropo.

Keep the caffeine flowing non-stop.
The Fridge.
Pause, for Bathroom breaks, as well as the other....
The entire season of Southpark without adds...or dish fees.
As the father of a 5-year-old, I tend to shy away from animated material when I have the TV to myself. But I will have steal a look, even if only to see what the fuss is about.
